Solara Estate is a planned over-50s land lease community on Golf Links Drive in Gatton, in the heart of the Lockyer Valley. It will be home to 267 households across 16.74 hectares. Lockyer Valley Regional Council voted unanimously to approve it in January 2026, and the approval took effect in April 2026.

Solara is designed for a new generation of downsizers and retirees. Around its homes and open green space sits one of the most comprehensive wellness and lifestyle precincts in regional Queensland.

Every home is single-storey, with 2 bedrooms or 2 bedrooms plus a study, across 3 floor plans. Each has a garage and at least 25 m² of private outdoor space, room for a garden or a morning coffee in the sun. The masterplan is by BDA Architecture, whose Australian Institute of Architects awards include the 2025 People’s Choice Award (Gold Coast & Northern Rivers).

The Solara Club

The approved plans place the shared facilities around the Solara Club, beside the gated entrance. The club is planned to include a kitchen and bar, a function room, a lounge, a 33-seat cinema, a games room and a library.

Planned wellbeing facilities include a heated indoor pool and spa, gym, sauna, steam room, wellness centre, and yoga and pilates studio. The plans also include a dance and aerobics hall and a hobby workshop.

Outdoors, the plans show 2 pickleball courts, a bowling green, a croquet lawn and a yoga lawn. There are also barbecues, a fire pit lounge, a coffee terrace and an events lawn.

Living in Gatton

Gatton’s supermarkets and a GP clinic are about 2 km from the site by road, and Gatton Hospital is about 3 km. The 18-hole Gatton Jubilee Golf Club is about 1.8 km away. Toowoomba is 39 km by road and Brisbane 92 km.

What happens next

Stage 1 is planned to include the first 20 home sites, the shared facilities and the manager’s office. We plan to start construction in 2029, with the first residents moving in during 2030.
